About
Hello, I'm Oli.

I'm the photographer behind The District Romance. I photograph weddings and engagement sessions with an editorial eye and a quiet, attentive presence — the kind of photographs that feel at home in a book you would keep on your table for years.
I'm drawn to architecture, to window light, and to the small gestures that happen between people when they believe no one is watching. The District Romance is the name I've given to that way of seeing: composed, romantic, and always rooted in something real.
Artistic philosophy
A photograph can be beautifully composed and still feel like nothing. The images I care about most hold both things at once — thoughtful composition, and a feeling you recognise the moment you see it.
That is why I begin with connection. When you feel comfortable, the photographs become honest, and honest photographs are the ones that last.
How I work
I pay close attention to the place you have chosen — its architecture, its windows, the way light moves through it over the course of the day — and let that setting become part of your story.
I give gentle direction when it helps and step back when it doesn't, so that portraits feel considered and the rest of the day feels natural. I edit with restraint, so your photographs look like you and like your day.
What you can expect.
A real conversation
We begin by talking — about you, your plans, and what you hope to remember.
Gentle direction
Guidance where it helps, and space where it doesn't, so you can stay present.
Attention to the setting
Light, architecture and atmosphere are part of every photograph I make.
Photographs that feel like you
Elegant, emotional images that stay true to who you are.
Washington, DC and beyond
Washington, DC and Northern Virginia offer an extraordinary range of settings for a wedding — neoclassical facades, quiet gardens, grand historic rooms, and open countryside just beyond the city. I'm based in the Washington, DC area, and I love working in places that give a day a strong sense of place.
I also travel for celebrations farther afield. If your plans take you somewhere new, I would love to hear about it.
